Hypnosis Sessions
Hypnosis is a therapeutic technique that has been used for centuries to help people make positive changes in their lives. Hypnosis is a unique state of mind where you are deeply relaxed yet acutely focused. It is the deepening of the brain’s natural ability to focus and imagine. This highly relaxed yet focused state is called the Theta brain wave stage. In this stage you are more open to suggestion and change which is why it is so highly effective in changing fears, blocks, limiting beliefs, and behaviors that no longer serve you. Hypnosis has been described as a “guided meditation with a goal”.
Benefits of Hypnosis:
- Reducing Anxiety and Stress: Hypnosis can help you relax and reduce your anxiety levels, which can have a positive impact on your physical and emotional health.
- Overcoming Fears and Phobias: Hypnosis can help you overcome irrational fears and phobias by retraining your subconscious mind to respond differently to the trigger.
- Overcoming Bad Habits: Hypnosis can be used to help you quit smoking, lose weight, or break other negative habits.
- Pain Management: Hypnosis can help reduce pain, particularly chronic pain, by changing the way the brain perceives pain signals.
- Improving Self-Esteem: Hypnosis can help you improve your self-esteem by increasing your confidence and reducing negative self-talk.
Unfortunately, there are many misconceptions about hypnosis that have prevented some people from seeking its benefits.
Misconceptions about Hypnosis:
- Revealing Secrets: Hypnosis does not force you to reveal your deepest secrets or thoughts or anything you don’t want to share.
- Mind Control: Many people believe that hypnosis is a form of mind control and that they will lose control over their thoughts and actions. In reality, hypnosis is a cooperative process that requires your active participation.
- Only Works on Gullible People: Some people believe that hypnosis only works on people who are gullible or easily suggestible. In reality, hypnosis can be effective for anyone who is willing to participate and be open to the process.
- Unconsciousness: Some people believe that hypnosis involves putting someone into a state of unconsciousness. However, during hypnosis, you are actually in a heightened state of awareness and focus.
Addressing hypnosis myths/misconceptions:
- Am I in control? You are always in control. You can get up at any time and you are aware of everything that is being said.
- Will I be so relaxed I tell you about my secrets? You do not start to spill secrets, this is a fallacy we see from movies. You are typically very relaxed and silent, enjoying the experience.
- Are you going to brain wash me? You decide what you want to work on, what you want to accomplish and the session is geared around your goals and your words are given during the suggestion period.
- Will you make me do embarrassing things like cluck like a duck? No, we do not practice that type of hypnosis at Littleredyoga, LLC.
- Can everyone be hypnotized? Yes, some can take longer than others. You do have to want to be hypnotized. To be most successful, relax your body and mind and let your imagination be free. If your practitioner says “we are at the beach, feel the air, hear the waves,” go there and enjoy the experience.
- Are there any contraindications for hypnosis? Hypnosis is not done on someone with psychosis. Their perception of reality is too fluid and it could cause them to disassociate further.
